Black and White Landscape Photographs of Northern Britain made by Paul Maven. Featuring shots from Cumbria, Northwest Scotland and North Yorkshire. Prints and limited editions available.

This collection brings together a broad range of images captured across the fells, mountains and coastlines of Northern Britain. Cumbria features prominently, alongside locations including the west coast of Scotland and the Yorkshire Dales. Throughout the work, there is a recurring interest in the ways in which the landscape is shaped and marked by human presence.
Although most of these images are captured digitally, they retain a strong connection to Paul’s earlier work and his beginnings in photography.
“I cut my teeth on 35mm black and white film cameras. There is something very special about the way the tones within the landscape are rendered when working in monochrome. My portfolio today seeks to capture something of that early experience of shooting on classic film stocks. I have also recently reintroduced film into my workflow.”
The Oban Ferry passes the Eilean Musdile lighthouse, with rain swept mountains and a cloudy sky creating a dramatic, atmospheric scene.
